Analyzing and Managing Change in the International Order: Russian, American and European Perspectives

Kennan Institute, Washington DC; 5 October 2017 - 6 October 2017

This conference brings together scholars, policy analysts and practitioners from Russia, Europe and the US to address key problems in Russia-West relations in a fast-changing international environment. Combining the benefits of academic rigor, historical perspective and practical experience, panelists will diagnose the changes underway, weigh present and future risks, and identify ways forward. We seek concrete ideas to help manage risks, strengthen rules and foster communities of practice - for the benefit of current foreign-policy elites and officials, as well as the next generation, across the Euro-Atlantic area.

This distinctive conference, has two audiences and two missions. First, to allow policy-practitioners, think-tank specialists, and academic as well as graduate students from leading universities in our regions to apply theirconceptual thinking, historical knowledge and practical training to come up with fruitful approaches to tackling key problems that confront the three UC regions. Two, to offer the UC group of advanced graduate students an opportunity to think imaginatively about current international problems in a policy-relevant setting.
