Valerie Browne is an M.A. Candidate in Regional Studies: Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia at the Harvard Davis Center. She graduated from West Virginia University in 2022 with majors in Russian Studies and English and a minor in Political Science. Valerie studied Russian in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan as a CLS scholar in 2022 and spent the 2022-2023 academic year in Krakow, Poland teaching English and volunteering with Ukrainian refugees as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant. Her current research explores the impacts of the Russo-Ukrainian war on language practices and national identity in Kazakhstan.
