Christina Fernandes is an MA candidate in Regional Studies: Russia, Eurasia, and Eastern Europe at the Harriman Institute. She earned her BA in Russian Language and Cultures from Columbia University, where she concentrated on Soviet and contemporary Russian history. She studied abroad at the Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University in Yaroslavl, Russia through Middlebury College, focusing on Russian language, culture, and history. Prior to starting her studies at the Harriman Institute, she worked for a non-profit, doing risk analysis for Russian and East European companies. At the Harriman Institute she focuses on Ukraine and Belarus, and protest and dissident movements.
