Cyrus Newlin is a Master’s candidate at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a Certificate candidate at the Harriman Institute. Prior to Columbia, he was an Associate Fellow in the Europe, Russia, and Eurasia Program at CSIS. There, he oversaw research projects on climate change and the Russian Arctic, Sino-Russian relations, and Russian foreign and security policy. From 2019-2020, he lived and worked in Moscow on an Alfa Fellowship with Bank of America. Cyrus also has experience in the U.S. Department of State’s Office of European Security. He earned his B.A. in Political Science and Russian from Swarthmore College in 2016.
