Samuel Ramani is a DPhil candidate at the Department of Politics and International Relations at St. Antony's College, University of Oxford. His current research focuses on Russia's responses to civil unrest in the CIS region and Middle East since the colour revolutions, and the intersection between Russian domestic politics, national identity and foreign policy decision-making. He is a regular contributor to major publications, like the Washington Post, Al Monitor and The Diplomat, and to think tanks, like the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and Valdai Discussion Club. has briefed the NATO Intelligence Fusion Centre, U.S. Department of State and French Ministry of Defence on Russian foreign policy, and is a geopolitical analyst and commentator, who regularly discusses current affairs on Al Jazeera (English and Arabic) and the BBC World Service.
