Sophia George

Sophia is a first-year MPhil student in the Russian and East European Studies program at the University of Oxford. Originally from Los Angeles, Sophia graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in 2023 with a major in International Politics, a concentration in Security Studies, and a certificate in European Studies. Past and present research areas of interests include the reorientation of the Baltic States towards the West in the post-Soviet era, Russian involvement in European right-wing populist movements and parties, and contemporary Russian intelligence operations. In addition to her studies, Sophia is also a recording singer and songwriter, with her third EP releasing this spring. She is proficient in the French language and is currently learning Russian.
