Thomas Brewis

Thomas Brewis is an Mphil student at St Hugh’s college Oxford. His research focuses on nationalist and ultra-nationalist parties across Europe especially in Ukraine and Russia as well as the nuances of modern Russian identity and Foreign policy. In particular he looks at the status of Russian minorities in the Near Abroad (mainly in Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova) and how they are viewed and treated by the Russian government and media. In his spare time he can be found visiting remote parts of the former Soviet Union, teaching, watching obscure Tarkovsky films and reading Sorokin novels.
