Vikki's background as a Russian-speaking Estonian has fostered her interest in the intricate relationships between Russian foreign policy, Russian ethnic minorities and EU political institutions. In particular, she is interested in the mechanisms of foreign interference and media control in the region and their effect on civil society and the maintenance of democracy. Vikki studied History and Politics at Oxford University, with special emphasis on the study of revolutions and protest movements. She continues to delve into the region in the Harvard Regional Studies in Russia and Eastern Europe programme, specializing Russia-EU relations and the role of disinformation and political interference in that relationship. She would like to pursue a career in European defence, either in NATO or a relevant EU institution.
